About The Art: Created during a Reflective Leadership Grant gathering at Duke Divinity, The Illumination (2024) weaves together worship, scripture, and communal reflection. Participants’ discernment responses are embedded in invisible ink and revealed only by ultraviolet light, echoing the Spirit’s work of uncovering what is hidden. The central image remains intentionally ambiguous, inviting viewers to discern whether they see barrenness, transformation, or new life.
