We Must Listen to the People Doing the Work

So many people I know in ministry are far outpacing their curve. As soon as they demonstrate competency, the tendency is to pile responsibility on them because resources are scarce and pressure is high. I understand that. And I also, I worry for them.

Good organizations have clear pathways for promotion based on skills sets and demonstrated ability, not just loading all important tasks on anyone who seems like they can do good work.

The biggest internal threat to the hashtag#church in the coming years will be a hashtag#talent issue. We must attract and retain our best people with economic models and work-life-mission balance that are sustainable...even if it means that some things have to end in the short run.
