The Listening Gap

The more I listen and learn to people doing real ministry on the ground, the more I'm convinced that big data just isn't what they need. In fact, the only data point that really matters is the piece of information that will help us get to know the person across from us better.

Large, national or international studies can be useful for helping to understand the culture, but we’ve got enough of those, and at the end of the day, that information just isn’t all that helpful for a youth minister or adult small group leader trying to figure out the best way to connect with someone in their circle.

At Future of Faith, we’re building Sacred Listening Tools as one part of the solution, but we know there need to be a myriad of resources to help fill that gap.  It’s clear that listening is the answer, but it’s going to take all of us to figure out the best ways to do that.

That’s why, in addition to the tools we’ve created already, we’re in the process of partnering with other organizations that want to create Sacred Listening Tools in their own context.  If that’s you, then drop us a line.
