Listen...To The Research: Investigating and Re-imagining Contemporary Religious Leadership
Religious leadership has never been one-size-fits-all. 🙌🏽⛪🕌🕍🌎 In the new working paper Investigating and Re-imagining Contemporary Religious Leadership, researchers Amy Lawton (friend of FOF) and Feyza Akova explore the many ways religious communities understand leadership—and how those leaders are shaped by their particular culture, time, place, theology, and people.
One idea we’re sitting with: communities turn to leaders for all kinds of things—wisdom, spiritual or moral guidance, community-building, and ritual—and those leaders can be formal or informal. 👂🏽🤝✨ The research gives us plenty to think about as we listen for how leadership is already showing up in our communities and imagine the spiritual infrastructure of the future. 🔮🌱
